The fragmentation of the image is of course rooted in the impressionist era but whereas Monet and his group of impressionists fragmented and called it impressionism Peter approaches his work by detailing perfectly with the pen then using his splash technique it causes the image to become fragmented and thus gain an impressionist image which does not detail the image but conveys it's spirit and form.
