David Alderslade
David Alderslade studied at the Falmouth College of Arts and graduated with a BA(hons) in Illustration in 2001. He now lives on the edge of Salisbury Plain, and in endeavouring to live simply and cheaply he enjoys constant reminders of how visually fantastic the countryside can be, at any time of day or night and throughout all of the seasons.
David was lucky to develop an ability to draw and paint at a young age and fortunate to grow up in the Wiltshire countryside, with it's rolling downlands covered in remnants of our prehistoric past. He enjoys exploring the ancient highways and by-ways which link these isolated places, always hoping to encounter wildlife along the way. The natural world is a continual source of inspiration for him, never failing to provide new and exciting discoveries which he is compelled to record and communicate to others through the medium of his beautiful artwork. His work is an honest attempt to capture something indescribable about the atmosphere created by these places and encounters. Rather than photographic realism, painting allows him to heighten colours and emphasise aspects of a scene until a picture blends reality with fantasy, in the same way that memories are both vivid and dreamlike!!
