I graduated from Goldsmiths Art College with a degree in painting, textiles and embroidery. Following a desire to travel and to explore other countries I lived in Spain for ten years. During this time I worked as a portrait artist on the Costa Brava, where I acquired a fine reputation for pastel and pencil sketches. Travelling also gave me the opportunity to study and embrace the many different cultures and surroundings which are apparent in my work today. As a working artist I constantly keep in touch with my role models, Beckmann, Caravaggio, El Greco, Van Gogh, John Skeaping, Jackson Pollock and Tracey Emin.
My love of horses in all their facets has resulted in exhibitions at Lauderdale House in Highgate, commencing in 2004. During 2005 I was commissioned to design the front cover of the Newmarket Shadwell Stud brochure. Through 2006 I was invited to show my work at Dubai World Cup which was an amazing opportunity.
From 2007 to 2010 my work has been exhibited at Royal Ascot Racecourse on a number of occasions. I have also shown work at a number of Polo venues including Guards at Windsor Great Park and Tidworth. The Walters Family, owners of Ffos Las, the UK’s newest racecourse purchased a large collection of my work to compliment the unique design and decoration of this wonderful racing venue in South Wales. I was also commissioned to produce a piece of work capturing the history of the first racing meeting which was a wonderful honour.
In the summer of 2010 I completed a number of paintings for Fontwell Park in West Sussex for the new grandstand. This included a showpiece depicting the figure of eight track and some of the historic horses and people past and present associated with this unique venue.
During 2011 I have continued to take commission work from owners, trainers and jockeys alike. Annabel Waley-Cohen asked me to produce a painting for her husband Sam, winning the Cheltenham Gold Cup on Long Run in a truly amazing finish. I was also commissioned to paint David Pipe’s wonderful grey Grand’s Crus for owner Roger Stanley.
Newbury and Royal Windsor Racecourses are keen supporters of my art and I display work there on a regular basis throughout the year. I have also started to work with both Warwick, Stratford and Uttoxeter Racecourses in 2012.
