Born in 1959, Steven spent most of his early childhood in Llysfaen, a small, idyllic village in the hills of North Wales. An ideal place for an artist to grow up and the panoramic views of the surrounding landscape inspired him to sketch and paint andby the age of 10, he had won his first Art competition.
In 1975, he began studying at Wrexham Art College, and was taught by the excellent Welsh artist Keith Bowen.
In 1981, Steven moved to London and worked alongside one of Britain`s best illustrators, Mike Vaughan. Steven worked for many clients including BBC Publications, Readers Digest, Collins Books, Daily Mail, Sunday Telegraph, Golf Monthly, TV Times, Barclays Bank, Lloyds TSB Bank, Lancia Cars, Jaguar Cars, Start-Rite shoes, Wall`s ice cream and Securicor. He also completed 12 paintings for a BP Calendar and a film poster for "Christmas Carol".
He now works from his studio/gallery in the picturesque town of Beaumaris on Anglesey. In 2010, he published his first book titled "The Anglesey Coastal Path" that features over 200 paintings and drawings.

Biography: Illustrator to Impressionistic Artist

In 1975, he began studying at Wrexham Art College, and was taught by the excellent Welsh artist Keith Bowen. He passed courses in Graphic Design and Illustration with Distinction and a week after graduating, his painting of "Lady Diana" was chosen for a double page spread in Woman`s Realm.
In 1981, Steven moved to London and worked alongside one of Britain`s best illustrators, Mike Vaughan. Steven worked for many clients including BBC Publications, Readers Digest, Collins Books, Daily Mail, Sunday Telegraph, Golf Monthly, TV Times, Barclays Bank, Lloyds TSB Bank, Lancia Cars, Jaguar Cars, Start-Rite shoes, Wall`s ice cream and Securicor. He also completed 12 paintings for a BP Calendar and a film poster for "Christmas Carol".
In 1985, he became disillusioned with Illustration and moved back to Caernarfon in North Wales to work with other artists including David Williams and Gwyn Hughes. He concentrated on painting in oils after being inspired by the French Impressionists and the Newlyn artists and was instantly attracted to the dazzling light and colours of the coastline and soon began painting his own three children enjoying the freedom of the seaside. These paintings proved to be very popular and sold in local art galleries and also in Fine Art auctions in Bonhams, Christies and Sothebys. In 1990, he set up his own gallery in Felinheli where he began publishing and marketing his limited edition prints and greeting cards.
He now works from his studio/gallery in the picturesque town of Beaumaris on Anglesey. His giclee prints and originals sell throughout Britain and on the coastlines of the USA and Algarve. The Harrods of Knightsbridge gallery have exhibited his work and his paintings have also been chosen for Tony Blair`s office during a European Summit in Cardiff. In a charity auction in 2004, featuring some of the best artists in Wales, his painting of " Porth Dafarch " reached the 2nd highest price next to one by Sir Kyffin Williams.
He works from photographs for his paintings and often paints commissions. He completed a painting of Scott Quinell`s children for his 30th birthday and has sold paintings to Bryn Terfel, Rebecca Evans, Dafydd Wigley and Dafydd Iwan, His work has been featured on the Sioe Celf and the Wedi 7 TV programmes on S4C. In 2010, he published his first book titled "The Anglesey Coastal Path" that features over 200 paintings and drawings.
