Investment in paintings was discussed recently on Bloomberg television as a sound investment as a hard asset like Gold, Platinum Silver etc. Also Ellen Kelleher a personal finance journalist for The Financial Times recently wrote an article recommending the purchase of Art, particularly in the $500 - $50,000 range as a sound long term investment with an impressive current average annual increase of 9.7 percent. The Artist Stuart Clark completing his superb work "Winged Angel"
Stuart Clark has been a Graphite artist since about 1984/5 mainly drawing portraits/pets! He has always loved art ever since he can remember,
In 2000 Stuart Joined Lowestoft Porcelain in making and drawing/painting, all handmade ceramic wares!
He then left in 2007 to concentrate on his Graphite portrait work and never looked back since !
Stuarts latest exhibition is at the Marina Theatre in Lowestoft with my portraits of Anthony Ogogo Boxer and Jessica Ennis Heptathlon Medal winners for Team GB, Anthony Ogogo is opening the event.
Also a John Lennon portrait he did which is going to be published in a book soon by the Director of Yoko Ono's company.
Stuart Clark has been a featured pencil artist of the week with PENCIL .com is Stuart specializes in creating large-scale, life-like, highly-detailed portraits of people and animals. We actually discovered Stuart on our Facebook page, where he shared one of his latest portraits of Marilyn Monroe. Stuart has captured everyone from John Lennon to Matt Bellamy of Muse in graphite form, and he does so with a striking level of accuracy using a variety of different techniques.
Most of Stuart’s drawings are drawn using the dark lines of the graphite to define the shape of the drawing. Some of his drawings, however, use what we refer to as “negative drawing,” using white and the absence of color to define his subjects. Many of his drawings use both of these techniques in tandem to create images with realistic lighting and shadows while showing the skill and expertise of the artist.
It’s difficult to choose a favorite when every portrait is so finely crafted, but I would have to agree with his fans on Facebook that “Weeping Angel” is one of his best works. The sharp detail of the angel in the foreground, contrasted with the blurred focus of the background makes for a drawing that is a feast for the eyes. Couple that with the fact that it looks like Stuart is drawing with a Blackwing 602 in one of the images, and we have a winner.
