This is an early coloured plates by the superb French Painter Georges Braque, examples of his works are now quite rare !! He was a master and co founder of cubism, a great friend and contemporary of Picasso.
This lovely coloured plate produced in 1948 for Les Editions Du Chene was selected by Braque for this edition. This is a genuine, authentic piece being an early colour plate so far superior to the modern 4 colour process in that it produces a much closer image to the original painting in both depth and colour.
This
piece is numbered X111 (13) in the series and is plate signed bottom
right.
Measurements; 10'' x 8'' (26 x 21 cms), it is tipped (passeportout) on to the original folio paper which measures
15'' x 11'' (38 x 28 cms) giving a border all around.
It is in excellent condition clean and bright and is a highly decorative piece which would look superb framed.
