NOW SOLD..............................This large Rare Masterpiece " Charge of the
Greys" shows the infamous charge of the Scot's Greys at the Battle of
Waterloo 1815............The Painting shows Sergeant Ewart in the
famous charge about to capture the French Eagle. This engagement also
gave the Scots Greys their Cap Badge the eagle itself. The eagle is
displayed in the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards museum in Edinburgh
Castle. So Ferocious was this charge Napoleon himself said
........................ "Ces terribles chevaux gris! Comme il
travaillent!" (Those terrible grey horses, how they strive!). General
Ponsonby led the main Charge and the shocked ranks of the French
columns surrendered in their thousands. Unfortunately General Ponsonby
was killed by enemy Lancers along with 102 other scots greys and 228
